Baby Tivoli Is Born!

I was scheduled to be induced on June 11, 2012! I was very happy to make it to this day. Aaron was back from Lake Powell and My doctor was back from Hawaii!! I was a little nervous that they would send me home being that I was only a "fingertip" the Thursday before. I talked to Trini and she said they wouldn't send me home. This was my 5th child and I was due on the 12th. I pumped on Saturday and went on a walk on Friday night. The walk turned into a little bit of a run and the pumping was painful. I had contractions and other pain but nothing too amazing.
Of course I couldn't do much sleeping Sunday night.....They would be calling me anytime between midnight and midnight on Monday. They usually start around 6 a.m. So, of course I started to get excited around then. They hadn't called me at 8 so I decided to call them and see what their schedule looked like. I would rather just know the timing instead of playing the waiting game. The lady that answered was really nice and told me they were very busy and it would probably be about 2 hours before they would call me in but I was the first one they would call.
So, I made a big breakfast and got the kids moving on sight words, writing letters, doing times tables, and practicing the piano. I even did some laundry. All in an attempt to occupy myself until they called me in.....
The call finally came at about 10:30 A.M.
As soon as I hung up the phone I went to find Aaron. He was of course in the bath having a relaxing morning:) His life was about to get crazy. I told him let's go! So he got out, we put finishing touches on the house, took the boys to Heather West's house and headed to the hospital.
Aaron was so excited, he was texting EVERYONE on the way to the hospital telling them baby was on her way!
This day was the day Madi has been waiting for! She was finally getting her sister and she wasn't about to miss out on the party leading up to it.
So, she came with us to the hospital to play the waiting game....
So excited for this day, but can't believe it is here!
I was so going to remember to take a picture before I changed into my gown. I obviously forgot to. This is me, 1 day short of 40 weeks pregnant!
At 11:00 A.M. We arrived at the hospital. I got dressed and all set up to get this party rolling.....The nurse asked me what I was when the Dr. last checked me on Thursday. I told her a fingertip. She said she was very surprised they kept the induction date. She asked some other questions then left. Dr. Winward came in and said, "You were only a fingertip on Thursday? I can't keep you here and induce you if that is all you were! The hospital has regulations so if you aren't farther along then that then we will have to send you home!" I couldn't believe she was telling me this! Russ and Nicole had come up from Vegas, Chase and Brianne and stayed down an extra day and Karen had flown in that morning. All expecting to see a baby by the end of this day. I got really nervous! Dr. said, "Well, let's check you!" I could tell I had made some progress I was just hoping it was enough. She said I was a 1+, then she stretched me to a 2. I was 50% effaced. She then said the magic words...."We'll keep you." I was SO relieved!! So was Aaron!
Once we knew we were staying we got everything rolling.
 At 12:00-noon-they started the pitocin.
About 12:30 P.M. Aaron, Madi and Karen left to get some lunch.
At 1:00 P.M. Dr. Came in and broke my water. Baby wasn't very happy so they put me on some oxygen. When Aaron and Madi walked in they were pretty surprised and asked me what was wrong. I told them the baby just wasn't happy. So they relaxed. It was cute:)
After my water was broke I knew the contractions would start coming harder so I called for the epidural. At about 2:00 P.M. The anesthesiologist came and did his magic. He had to do a poke twice which I don't remember the 2nd one? I must just be so tough:) He had to do that because it started bleeding back into the line which would cause an IV. That is not what we wanted of course. In the end it all worked out great! While I was getting the epidural they took the oxygen mask off and baby seemed to do fine so I was able to keep it off.  We even found out that Dr. Plumb-the anesthesiologist-is the guy that Aaron bought our lot from. Apparently they never met. Small World!
The party started and people started arriving to "Hang Out."
Grandma Smith, Heather, Christie, Brenden, Madi, Lexi, Jason, Bentley, Brianne, Chase, Grandpa Key, Hailee, Joanna with Addi on the floor in her car seat somewhere and Grandma Key.
My 2 biggest fans. Madi and Dad!
Nicole, Russ and Ryker-there is Addi!
At 2:30 P.M. I was checked again and was at a 4+.
At 3:45 P.M. I was at a 5.
At 5:00 P.M. People were starting to get hungry so we asked the nurse to come check me to see if we had time for everyone to go get some dinner. I was at a 6 so they all left.
I rested some while everyone was gone for an hour and just kind of hung out. In labors past, by the time I get to a 6 I go to a 10 in one hour or less so I thought I would have to call them back. Well, everyone got back and I wasn't feeling any pressure. I thought that was a little weird but carried on with  doing my thing-trying to get this baby out:)
When Aaron got back they checked me and said I was a 7. What? I've never been a 7 before I have always skipped 7,8,9 and been a 10! I thought this was odd. Dr. then came to check and said the baby was posterior. That answered my questions. So, they put my leg on this table to use gravity to get the baby to turn. She said she would probably be coming in about an hour after doing this trick.
The Dr. went home. I sat there for about 20 minutes and called for the nurse saying this baby is coming, let's do this! She came in didn't even hardly check me and said, "yep, I will call the Dr." She went and called the Dr......The nurse came back and said she didn't even have to tell the Dr. it was her, she knew right away but couldn't believe how fast the baby had turned.
All ready to get this little babe here!
Most of the party moved to the hall.
All but these 4.
I haven't had anyone but Aaron in the room with me with the other 4 babies I have had. But, we decided for this birth we would let our mom's in the room. I told them to stay behind my head but they didn't really obey the rules.
They were naughty:)
Poor Madison got pushed forward by Grandma Smith, which forced her to see WAY more than she wanted to. Madison went a little pale for about 20 minutes and all she would say is "That is so gross!" Poor Girl!!
Call me a bad mom but I did not want to do skin to skin.
I just don't like all my "stuff" to get on me. Especially because I usually can't get up to take a shower until the next morning.
Holding my sweet baby!
